BEST specialist in the reinforcement of slipform structures

The BEST Group is an expert in the field of reinforcement work using slipform technology. During the construction of a silo at Forstner Mill in St. Marien, the space-saving storage and fast laying of prefabricated elements came into its own. The continuous laying, the exact timing and position of the laid reinforcement were made possible by the BEST laying experts in cooperation with the parallel prefabrication in the hall.

The concrete construction project carried out by the construction company "ING. HARALD WEISSEL GES.M.B.H" was built completely with slipform technology. The special feature was that the entire project had to be concreted in one pour from start to finish. The formwork had to be advanced at a certain speed so that the concrete would not dry while in the process and the formwork would not "stick" to the concrete.

Work was carried out in two shifts, with simultaneous shuttering, laying and concreting. This posed a special challenge for the planning and implementation of the project, as there could be no delays in the sequence of operations on the construction site and work had to be carried out around the clock.

Slipforming involves continuous work, hand in hand with carpenters, slipformers, concreters and the construction company. The duration of the slipforming was about 10 days with 24 working hours per day, divided into day shift and night shift - that's 11 hours per man with a break of one hour in total.

Care had to be taken to ensure that the reinforcement was placed accurately. This is where the advantages of the BEST element technology came into full play. Since the storage space on the construction site was minimal and the structural steel to be laid had to be placed within easy reach at all times, the reinforcement was divided into small quantities so that the tower was loaded evenly and no slanting was caused.

The reinforcement was lifted from the storage yard to the platform between the construction steps. The delivery of the entire object was divided into 6 truckloads, whereby it should be mentioned that the prefabricated - pre-welded - elements can be stacked very well and take up little space.

The challenging logistics could only succeed because the reinforcement had been precisely cut, bent, welded, produced on schedule and delivered. A delivery that is well coordinated with the construction site and on schedule is particularly important in slipform construction.
