Construction period: 10/2015 - 02/2016
Contractor: KELLER GRUNDBAU
For the project, the upper part of the pile head was equipped with a specially designed, vibration-damping cover, which was attached with an additional steel structure. With this custom-made solution, BEST met the customers special requirements and developed a technical solution in a very short period of time.
In this construction project at Fred-Zimmermann-Platz in Vienna, a residential building with approximately 400 apartments and an underground garage with about 300 parking spaces was built. The building was constructed directly above the tunnel of the rapid transit railway near the St. Marx station. The issue arose that with conventional construction, the piles would have transmitted the vibrations and sound waves of the rapid transit railway directly into the residential building, which would have resulted in unacceptable noise pollution. A novel technical solution was developed and approved for this special problem of the construction project.
Essential work steps could be relocated from the construction site to production through prefabrication, which facilitated a smooth and fast construction process. The specially equipped, prefabricated piles were delivered ready for installation to the construction site.
